Obituary of Elisabeth Chovick

Lisa passed away peacefully on October 23, 2018, after a courageous battle with breast cancer; she was 62 years old.  An exceptionally gifted student, Lisa graduated from San Bernardino High School and UC Santa Cruz and then earned her Master’s Degree at UC Davis.  She started her teaching career at Santa Cruz High School, and then went on to become a professor of mathematics at Cabrillo College and Monterey Peninsula College, and from all accounts she was an amazing teacher.  Kind, dedicated, and easily approachable, she was both a mentor and friend to many of her students.

In addition to teaching, Lisa loved gardening, the Golden State Warriors, and walking on the beach with her beloved bulldog, Molly.  Survived by her father, James Chovick; her sisters, Cindy (Made) and Nora (Fred); and her brother Robby (Joni), Lisa will be remembered by her family and friends for her generosity, intelligence, loyalty, and modesty.
