Obituary of Kenneth Lee Mohs

Kenneth Lee (Kenny) Mohs was born on September 12, 1955 in Sunnyside, Washington to Martin and Norma Mohs; the second of eight siblings.  Kenny was diagnosed with lung cancer in January 2018 and passed away at home surrounded by loved ones on October 22, 2018 at the age of 63.

When Kenny was 8 years old the family moved to Othello, Washington in 1963.  He was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he was an altar boy.  He also participated in Boy Scouts, Little League and Babe Ruth.

Throughout Middle School and High School he was a stand-out athlete in multiple sports; football, wrestling and baseball.  After practices and on weekends Kenny could be found working at Copeland Lumber alongside his father and brothers.  After High School he attended Big Bend Community College and worked continuously in the building industry.

Kenny then moved to California and worked with his close friend Lewis Wallace, framing homes in the San Jose and Santa Cruz areas.  Soon Kenny and younger brother Kevin formed K&K Mohs Construction.  They worked together successfully for 30 years framing custom homes in the Bay Area.

Kenny met Patty Lambert and they were married on May 17, 1986.  Kenny and Patty made their home in Scotts Valley, California.  There they were blessed with the birth of daughter Jamie and son Ross.

Kenny enjoyed attending his kids sporting events, taking his family on numerous vacations, and visiting the Crow’s Nest for fun filled family dinners with a view.  Kenny loved spending time with his son whether it was during their excursions exploring Washington DC and Yellowstone National Park, or just relaxing on the weekends working on cars.  He was thrilled to walk his only daughter down the aisle for her wedding and later remodel her family’s first home with the help of his son- in- law Patrick. Kenny looked forward to his many weekly visits with his only grandchild Jackson; whom he adored.  He also looked forward to annual get-togethers with his high school buddies and golfing with his many life-long friends. Kenny will always be remembered for his strong work ethic, dedication to his family, and his ability to make everyone laugh. Kenny was greatly loved and will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Norma Mohs and his best dog buddy, Oscar.  He is survived by his wife of 32 years Patty; his daughter Jamie (Patrick) Hill with grandson Jackson Hill and his son Ross.  He is also survived by his father Martin Mohs siblings Allan (Rebecca) Mohs, Mark Mohs, Edna Allphin, Laurie Mohs, Diana (Randy) Hafer, Debra (Justin) Hafer, and Kevin (Toni) Mohs.

A celebration of life was held on November 10 in Kenny’s hometown, Othello Washington.
