We met teacher Annie back in 1978 when we first moved to Santa Cruz from Ohio. We enrolled our three year old Meagan in her preschool, the School House. We have many wonderful memories of the love and learning that Annie imparted. It was a wonderful start to Meagan‘s education and we are forever grateful. Teacher Annie was loving, funny, and her arms were always open. May all of your memories of her sustain you through the coming sadness. Beth and Dwight Basilius

Dear family,
I'm so sorry for the loss of your beloved Ann. Words fail to capture the pain of losing a loved one. But we look forward to the time when words will fail to capture the joy of having our heavenly Father return your dear one to you in the righteous paradise here on earth. Acts 24:15; Psalm 37:29

Kelly, I was surprised and saddened to read of Ann's passing in the Sentinel. My heart goes out to you in your loss.
I didn't see your mom often but a kinship and warmth was always there when we ran into each other. Usually she was with you somewhere about town, at the optometrist or on East Cliff. We'd stop for a few words, talk about some oddity of life, and part chuckling because we shared a common tilted sense of humor.
Ann's love for you, and concern for your welfare, were paramount from the moment you entered her life. I hope the light of her love help guides your way as you navigate this difficult time. Warmly, Julie Esterly

Dear Kelly,
I was very saddened to see the obituary for your mother. We got to know you guys through soccer and so enjoyed those years together. It was always a pleasure to run into your mom around town and she always had time for a chat! Sometimes she even had you with her and those times were especially delightful. Your mom was one-of-a-kind and everyone loved her for that. The thing that she loved most was you and she was so proud of you. Please know that we are thinking of you. Don't hesitate to reach out there's anything we can do for you during this time.

Kelly, I am so saddened to read about your Mom's passing. I always had such tremendous fondness for her. I have many happy memories, despite the fact that I didn't have a tremendous amount of interaction with your mother. I guess that just means that she was the type of person who would always leave an impression.
I always very much respected the fact that she wasn't the type to ever withhold an opinion. And, of course, she had such a wicked sense of humor. I really enjoyed litigating a case with her.
I always appreciated the fact that she had enough faith and confidence in me to allow me to be the person to "babysit" you in that Monterey courtroom during her visits with the judge during a settlement conference. I doubt that you would remember, but my daughters and I ran into you two in the unlikely event of a joint San Jose shopping mall trip. Then I still laugh about the time that, after having not seen you in at least a few years, you and your Mom came to my office and she sent you to my doorway, to elicit my puzzled reaction of "who the heck is this kid standing in my doorway", only to then have your laughing mother appear over your shoulder.
I believe you were with your Mom when I ran into her in the county building around a year-and-a-half ago when I was performing a task which ultimately culminated in my recent career change. Because of that, I feel like your mom, a former Court Clerk, was part of my also becoming a member of the Court.
I am sure this is a tremendous loss for you. I am so sorry. Having had Ann as your mother, though, I know that you have a solid foundation in your life and will go on to lead a very happy and successful life.
Take care of yourself.

I had the pleasure to work with Ann when she served on the Santa Cruz County Assessment Appeals Board. She was bright and insightful and so committed to our community. And even more committed to her beloved daughter, Kelly, of whom she spoke often with such joy and pride. She has left us far too soon, and I am fortunate to have had a chance to know her during her too brief time here.
