Obituary of Rose Kelsey (Trombatore)

Born November 23, 1928 in Chicago, IL to Salvatore and Ella Marie (Belluomini) Trombatore. Rose moved to San Jose in the 40’s with her parents. She attended Willow Glen Elementary, Woodrow Wilson Jr. High and Notre Dame High School.

 

Rose married Bill Kelsey in 1948 and moved to Santa Cruz. She was part owner of ShRos Dress Shop, and made her own radio commercials. Shew loved to put on fashion shows. She was involved in the Miss Santa Cruz Pageants and Miss California Pageant for many years in a variety of roles, including Chaperone and Executive Director.

 

After her husband’s death in 1983, Rose moved back to San Jose and worked as a volunteer at Martha’s Kitchen and Kaiser Hospital. She was a member of Golden Gems and Centinal Bells. She loved taking bus trips and enjoyed working with dry flowers.

 

She is survived by her children Dan (Amber) Kelsey, Marque (Partner Lisa) Kelsey and Carrie Kelsey; Grandsons, Justin (Alexis) Kelsey and Brent (Alyssa) Kelsey. Also sisters Joan White and Brenda (Peter) Reed and brother-in-law Jay Hockenbury. She was preceded in death by her parents; Sisters Carol Hockenbury; Brother Tom Trombatore; and brother-in-law Ray White. She is also survived by many dear nieces, nephews and friends including former daughter-in-law, Lisbeth Kelsey.
