Obituary of Charlotte Renee Hunter

Charlotte (Sherry) Hunter, passed away on January 3, 2012 at Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz. She was 60. Charlotte was born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska on February 6, 1951. She was one of four children born to Elton L. Gillam, Sr. and Shirley E. (Friehauf) Gillam. Growing up in Bakersfield, CA, Sherry was a graduate of Arvin High School. She later attended junior college in Bakersfield. After moving to Santa Cruz in 1980, Sherry worked as an admitting clerk for Dominican Santa Cruz Hospital. Sherry enjoyed spending time at the ocean, going to the beach, swimming, surfing and gardening. Sherry was preceded in death by her son, Elton Ogan. She is survived by her husband Johnny Hunter of Santa Cruz and son, Scott Ogan of Millersville, TN; stepdaughter Michele Perez of Merced, CA; Parents, Elton and Shirley Gillam of Rio Vista, CA; brother, Elton Gillam, Jr. of Union Grove, NC; two sisters, Bonnie Simmons of Lincoln, CA and Pama Gillam of Sparks, NV. She is also survived by three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at Saint Lawrence Orthodox Christian Church, 6180 Highway 9, Felton, CA. on Wednesday, January 11th at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Felton Cemetery, Felton Empire Rd., Felton, CA .
