Obituary of Dennis Paul Combs

Dennis Paul Combs 1954-2011 Dennis Paul Combs was born March 10, 1954 at Santa Cruz Community Hospital. He passed away unexpectedly at home on August 4, 2011 at the age of 57. Dennis attended local schools and graduated from Aptos High School in 1972. He proudly served in the US Army, stationed at Fort Ord in Monterey, California. Returning to Corralitos he bought a cabin and lived happily in the redwoods for years. In 1983 Dennis married Lori Giuliani and began his family when his first son Spencer was born in 1986. The family business Alternative Motors, thrived on Pacific Avenue in the 80's combining Dennis' knowledge and appreciation for classic cars with his business sense. October of 1989 brought him both a big earthquake and a small child; second son Carson was born only 49 hours before the quake. Dennis was most proud of his sons and their accomplishments, including graduations from college. Before returning to Santa Cruz in the 90's, Dennis worked and resided in one of his favorite places, Big Sur. Dennis always found time for his beloved San Francisco Giants, and truly enjoyed the World Championship win last season. Dennis also took great pride in being a 3rd generation Santa Cruz native. Dennis is survived by his sons Spencer and Carson and former wife Lori G. Patterson (Billy), all of Soquel; Sisters Susan Ochoa of Watsonville, Rene Smith (Rick) and Brother Eric both of Aptos. He also leaves numerous nieces and nephews and his girlfriend Michelle Tuttle of Aptos. He was predeceased by his parents Jim and Erika Combs. A Burial Service with Military Honors will be held Thursday, August 25th at noon at Soquel Cemetery, 550 Old San Jose Rd. in Soquel. All are welcome. In memory of Dennis, please tell someone a joke.
