Obituary of Lucille C. Kohnhorst

Ima Lucille Christofferson Kohnhorst 3-23-1920 7-5-2011 Despite being severely hearing impaired since childhood, Lucille loved music and would often break into an impromptu song or dance, her lovely blue eyes sparkling with childlike joy. Lucille lived and breathed her Mormon faith. She never waivered in her devotion to the Lord; always happy to play the piano or teach a Sunday school class. As a young woman, Lucille served a two year mission for the church in Sweden. She loved all things Swedish, especially an all-you-can-eat smorgasbord. Lucille worked as an accountant at many firms, balancing the books for over a decade at Audio Graphic Films in Hollywood. Frugal by nature, Lucille had a wild side. Yes, that was her flying to Cuba to cha- cha- cha. She also made a big move with her cousins to live in Venice, California , where she bought a brand-new 1955 Bonneville convertible in salmon, the latest shade. Family meant the world to Lucille. She was very dear to her son, Keith (Lisa) and daughter, Jan (Paul). She moved to Santa Cruz in 1992 so she could spend more time with them. At age 78, Lu became a grandmother for the first time. She treasured putting contests on the carpet with Ben and completing puzzles with Tessa. She had great caregivers- Irma, Phil and Diana. The LDS sisters were dear friends and she enjoyed attending Elderday. Funeral services will be held on Saturday July 23, 2010 beginning at 10:30 am.at Benito and Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel. Friends may pay their respects at the chapel on Saturday morning beginning at 9 a.m. She will be laid to rest in Laketon Township Cemetery in Muskegon, Michigan.
