Obituary of Deirdre Hoban

DEIRDRE MARY EMMANUEL CLAIRE MURRAY HOBAN A memorial celebration will be in San Francisco for Deirdre Mary Emmanuel Claire Murray Hoban who passed away peacefully on February 8, 2012 in Santa Cruz, at the age of 89. Born in Ballynahinch, County Down, Northern Ireland, she was a long time resident of San Francisco, moving there with her husband, Larry Hoban, in 1956. While raising her four sons in San Francisco, she earned her BA in French from San Francisco State University. She was an avid reader of French Literature; enhancing her skills with frequent summer visits to the Sorbonne in Paris. She enjoyed travel, politics, cooking and long walks on San Francisco's Ocean Beach as well as spending time with her children and grandchildren. She leaves her four loving sons and daughters' in-law: Declan and Maree Hoban of Perth, Australia, Patrick Hoban and Martha Lambertson of Santa Cruz, Adrian Hoban and Linda Humphrey of Port Angeles, Washington, and Gavin and Ingrid Hoban of Bend, Oregon. She also is survived by her sisters, Terri Duffy and Rhona Clifford both of Coney Island in Northern Ireland, and seven beloved grandchildren. Deirdre was preceded in death by her husband, Larry, in 2006. A memorial celebration will be held Friday, February 17th in San Francisco (831-254-7022).
