Obituary of Isabel Escamilla

Recitation of the Holy Rosary and Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Thursday and Friday in Boulder Creek for Isabel Escamilla who passed away in Santa Cruz on February 24, 2012 following a lengthy illness. Born in Merced, California, she was 71 years old. Mrs. Escamilla moved to Boulder Creek in 1962 with her husband, and raised her family there. She was an active parishioner of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Boulder Creek, and served on the altar society. Her strong devotion to her church community was evident as her three sons volunteered as altar servers at the St. Michaels's. Mrs. Escamilla operated Escamilla Day Care Center in Boulder Creek. She was affectionately known as "Miss Mia" to all her child students and their parents. Her love for children was evident as her career spanned over 30 years as a day care provider. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Javier Escamilla, her sons, Carlos, Juan, and Roberto Escamilla, her daughters, Rebecca Escamilla, and Dora Ortega, her six beloved grandchildren; Jonathan,Danny, Jessica, Andrew, Adriana, and Joseph. She also leaves her great granddaughters, Catlin and Tiana. One of seven children, she is survived by her sister, Dora Faulkerson, a brother, Charles Gonzalez, and was preceded in death by her three brothers Luis, Gilbert and Manuel Gonzales and one sister Carmen Garcia and her grandson Matthew Escamilla. The rosary will be recited at St. Michael's Church (13005 Pine Street , Boulder Creek CA 95006) on Thursday, March 1, beginning at 7 p.m. The mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 2, 2012 at the church.
