Obituary of Mike Howard Scofield

Mike Howard Scofield 3/10/1954 - 6/5/2011 Mike passed away unexpectedly Sunday June 5, 2011 at his residence in the Resitar Hotel, Watsonville, CA. Mike Howard Scofield was born in Livermore, CA on March 10, 1954 to Gary D. Scofield and Myrtle F. Harrell, he was their third son and last child. When the family moved back to Santa Cruz in 1963, Mike attended Aptos Elementary, Junior and High Schools, graduating in 1972. After graduation Mike made a living as a Commercial Fisherman traveling to Alaska and Southern California to deep sea fish. Mike's first love was fishing. He didn't care if it was lake, stream or ocean he wanted to be catching fish. If he wasn't fishing you could usually find him befriending some stray cat or dog. Mike is survived by his mother Myrtle Kristalyn, of Hermiston, OR; brothers, Gary Scofield and his wife Gail of Soquel and Mark Scofield and his wife Kathy of Santa Cruz. Mike is also survived by his four children, Mike H. Scofield, Michelle Ann Scofield, Julessa Barnes and Mikey (Scofield) Hanson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding Mike in death was his father, Garold (Gary) Scofield in 1998. A "Scattering at Sea" ceremony will take place on Thursday, June 16th at 4:45 p.m. Please meet at the Santa Cruz Harbor Dock F for departure. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Homeless Services Center, 115 Coral St., Santa Cruz, CA 95060. Arrangements are under the direction of Benito & Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel.
