Growing up, she lived for much of her life in hotels, where her father was a manager. Once she met Ronald Reagan as a little girl; he was attending a conference at the hotel where her father was manager. Her parents had her put a raincoat over her pajamas and took her into the ballroom where Reagan was sitting up on a platform talking to some other people. He immediately stopped what he was doing and leaned over to her, saying,"Well, hello little girl!" He made her feel like she was the only person in the room, and spent a few minutes chatting with her. Even though she didn't agree with Reagan's politics, she always remembered that moment fondly. Tracy earned a BS and Masters Degree in mathematics from UCSC. In her career, she worked a number of different places. She accomplished hiking to the top of Half Dome. She loved animals; especially horses and dogs. She also loved England and spent a summer there during her college years waitressing at a pub near Huddersfield in the north of England.
