After his time with his squadron he left active duty and entered the Naval Reserve. He then went to work as an Aeronautical Engineer with United Airlines while living in San Francisco, CA. Dave met Liliane Rabanel in San Francisco, CA in 1962. They were married in October 1964 and would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year. Dave took on a family of five children when he met Liliane and he was always there to support them and be their Dad. Dave and Lily were partners in a 30' Catalina sailboat with four other friends that moored in the Santa Cruz Yacht Harbor. They spent many wonderful years sailing on the Monterey Bay on the "Five O". Dave also went on many trips with his buddies to sail in the Caribbean and partake in a little rum. They were world travelers taking trips to Europe, Australia, Egypt, China, South America, and several safaris to Africa. They loved hiking and camping in Yosemite Valley and the high country for the past 50 years. They took their children and grandchildren on many great trips there. They rafted down the Amazon, and the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon. Dave was an avid History and Political buff. He enjoyed the symphony, baseball, football, and tennis. They continued to be active with the Fighting Aces Squadron 152 attending many reunions over the years. They loved to entertain and had wonderful parties for Christmas, Mardi Gras, and the Kentucky Derby with all their friends and family.
