Obituary of Howard Edward Blower

Services will be in Gustine, California and Mt. Hermon on Friday and Sunday for Howard Blower who passed away peacefully on April 12, 2012 at Dominican Hospital at the age of 93. Prior to joining his Lord and Savior, and reuniting with Nelladean, his wife of 62 years in heaven--his daughters and most of his grandchildren were with him. Throughout his life he listed faith, family, and friends as his priorities. Howard Blower graduated from UC Berkeley as a civil engineer; then completed the Naval Academy at Annapolis. He served his country in the US navy during WW II, as a Lieutenant. After retiring from ARMCO Steel Howard continued working as a consultant and as a teacher in his profession. His career spanning over 56 years leaves a legacy of many former colleagues and students whose lives he enriched. Howard was active in Christian organizations especially Mt. Hermon and his home church, most recently Gateway Bible Church. He is survived by his daughters and sons in-law: Cara (Leo) DeAmicis of San Rafael, Joyce Friesen of Fresno, and Maryalice (Kirk) Means of Oakland. He also leaves seven loving grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Military honors will be at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery (32053 W. McCabe Rd. Gustine, CA 95322) on Friday April 20, 2012 beginning at 1 p.m. He will be buried beside his loving wife Nelladean Blower who preceded him in death in 2005. The memorial service will be on Sunday, April 22, at Mount Hermon Auditorium, beginning at 11:00 a.m. with a reception to follow.
