Obituary of O. Robert Welch

Bob died peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends. He was preceded in death by Alice Lee, his wife of 55 years and his son, Walter. Bob is survived by his children, Pat, Margaret, Howard, Mark and Jane, 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Born in Oklahoma City, Bob graduated from high school in Arkansas and enlisted in the Marines during WWII. Upon his return from the war, Bob attended college on the GI bill and received his B.A. in Communication Electronics from Iowa State, and later earned a Masters in Systems Engineering from San Jose State University. After marrying Alice in June, 1948, Bob's life work was in the aerospace industry designing logistics and communication systems for satellites and space shuttles, retiring in 1992. A memorial service and celebration of Bob's life will be held at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, Ben Lomond (101 Riverside Ave, at Glen Arbor Dr.) on Sunday, Oct. 30 at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob's memory to Valley Churches United Missions, P.O. Box 367, Ben Lomond, Ca 95005; or Second Harvest Food Bank, or any charity that feeds the hungry or ministers to those in jail and their families.
