Obituary of Phyllis Skidmore Long

Phyllis Mae (Skidmore) Long 91 of McLean Virginia, born in Fitchburg Massachusetts and formerly a resident of Worcester Massachusetts, Florida, Texas, Washington and Arcadia, Santa Rosa and Scotts Valley California where she lived for nearly 60 years died surrounded by family at Virginia Hospital Center, Virginia after a brief illness. She leaves behind her beloved children; David Reid Long and his wife Dolores of Scotts Valley, CA, Jeffrey Skidmore Long and his wife Elizabeth "Liz" of Denver, CO, Anne Louise Long McDonnell and her husband William "Dan" of McLean, VA, James "Jim" Francis Long of Santa Rosa, CA and Julia Ruth Long Hagins of Turlock, CA; her loving sister Louise Skidmore Tracey of Hopkinton, MA, a brother-in-law Donald Long of Oak Creek Canyon, AZ, and a sister-in-law Evelyn Skidmore of Grafton, MA; blessed grandchildren, Rebecca Reid Long Carey and her husband Conor of Aptos, CA, Rachel Rose Long and her husband Salvadore Zumaya-Lucero of Santa Cruz, CA, Kathleen Nan McDonnell of London, UK, Jeffrey Scott Hagins and his wife Citlalli of Hollister, CA, William "Will" Patrick McDonnell IV of Columbia, SC, and Joseph "Joe" Michael Hagins of Turlock, CA; and four delightful great-grandchildren Seamus Conor and Fiona Rose Carey, Victoria Zumaya-Long and James Robert Hagins. She was predeceased by her brother Richard Skidmore and a very special sister Kathryn "Kay" (Skidmore) Welsh but has many nieces and nephews who she talked about fondly. Phyllis will have a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am on Monday, September 12th, 2011 at San Agustin Church, 257 Glenwood Dr. Scotts Valley, CA, with viewing beginning at 0930 - and all are welcomed to attend. There will be a private burial at the Santa Cruz Memorial Park Cemetery where she will be buried right next to her loving husband Robert Long who passed away in 1989. Phyllis will be very greatly missed by her family and friends. Her life was pure joy.
