Obituary of James Park Davidson

Jim began his a career as mechanical engineer at 20 years old. From his early work in California's fruit canning industry through to his later work in design of advanced robotics devices for automated manufacturing, he had a passion for providing innovative solutions to complex problems. He was also known for his community volunteer work for Santa Cruz County suicide prevention, Habitat for Humanity, the Red Cross and others. His favorite was mentoring high school students in the field of underwater robotics in association with the Marine Advance Technology Education (MATE) program. A year ago he was honored with a special award for his 10 years of volunteer service. Jim also traveled several times to the National Competitions at NASA in Texas, where he was thrilled to do work in the same pool used for training astronauts. Many of his students have become nationally recognized in the field of robotics. He was a generous and caring man with an abundance of energy. He is survived by his wife Jean of 66 years, 3 sons and, 3 grandchildren. There will be a memorial gathering at Jim and Jeans home Dec. 17 at 2:00 PM.For addition info call 831-457-2426
