Catherine Lisdero

Obituary of Catherine Irene Lisdero

Catherine Lisdero passed away peacefully at her Capitola home on September 27, 2012. Born in Joliet, Illinois, Catherine, known as Cathy to her friends, would have celebrated her 89th birthday this November. She has been a resident of Capitola for the past 63 years and for many years was employed as a shipping supervisor at Brown Bulb Ranch. Cathy was active in civic and social events. She volunteered her time at the Mid County Senior Center in Capitola, as head receptionist, and for the Santa Cruz County Elections Board, working at various voting precincts. Cathy also served as a past president of the Soquel Capitola P.T.A. She was an avid San Francisco Giants and 49ers fan. She loved all music, and particularly enjoyed seeing live shows at various venues in Santa Cruz County with her daughter, and listening to KPIG radio. Going to restaurants with 2 for 1 coupons in hand for family and friends gave her much joy. Cathy always dressed with style, her hair perfectly done and nails polished. Perhaps her greatest simple pleasure was going to the Capitola esplanade daily, to enjoy her morning coffee, and people watch in the town she loved so much. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and dear neighbors. She is survived by her daughter and son-in law, Gail Korich and Charlie Wallace of Aptos, her grandson and his wife, Jack Hartong and Jennifer Kern of Beaverton, OR; numerous nieces and nephews and her very dear family friend, Jeff Waldron of Aptos. Cathy was preceded in death by her loving husband, James A. Lisdero in 1992, and her son John J. Hartong in June, 2012. A celebration of her life will be Thursday, October 18, 2012 in the Sierra Room of Benito and Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel in Santa Cruz, beginning at Two O'clock p.m. Any kind acts of charity may be made in her name to Hospice of Santa Cruz County (940 Disc Drive Scotts Valley, Ca 95066)
