Obituary of Virgil Lee Grimes

Virgil Lee Grimes passed away on 03/12/2013. He was 63 years old. Virgil was a California native, born February 7th, 1950 to Virgil and Ellen Grimes. Virgil grew up in Garden Grove and graduated from Santiago High School in 1969. After graduation he served his country in the US Army where he earned the National Defense Service Medal and was an M-16 sharp shooter. He received an honorable discharge in 1976. He loved spending time in the Islands, and spent part of his life living in Hawaii. He retired from Joe's Bar in Boulder Creek, where he was a bar tender for 32 years. He volunteered for Ben Lomond Fire Department, coached little league, loved fishing, playing horseshoes and camping on the Eastern Slope of the High Sierras with his buddies. He also loved bartending for Red Hat Red Hot Golf Tournament, and the Boulder Creek Fire Dance. He will be fondly remembered for his playing the part of "Santa" in Joe's Bar Christmas Program for the benefit of Valley Churches United Mission. Virgil was preceded in death by his loving parents Virgil and Ellen Grimes. He is survived by his sisters Jeanette Imonti of Chicago, Joyce Agur of Southern CA, his nieces Doreen (Crandall) Edwards, Linda (Dave) Way, Lisa (Richard) Eddy, his nephew Steven (Christine) Imonti, 5 great nieces and 4 great nephews. There will be a Celebration of Life and Hawaiian themed potluck at Scopazzi's Restaurant, 1330 Big Basin Way in Boulder Creek on April 7th from 1-4pm.
