Obituary of Rosemarie Rochex

Rosemarie Rochex passed away on May 19th in Santa Cruz. Rosemarie was born to Rene and Rose Rochex in San Francisco. Shortly after her birth, her parents brought her back to their home on Central Avenue in Salinas. She attended Sacred Heart School and after graduation from the eighth grade she moved to La Selva Beach where her father had built a new home overlooking the ocean after he retired from Stoffey and Rochex Florists. Rosemarie then attended Watsonville High for a short time, transferring to Santa Catalina School in Monterey and graduating in 1954. She attended Dominican University in San Rafael, transferring to UC Berkeley where she graduated in 1958. She moved to San Francisco and worked for Bank of America on Market Street. In the mid-sixties, she returned to Salinas and became a legal secretary for the Cominos, Shostak & Epstein Law Firm. In 1972 she moved to Aptos to be with her mother. Rosemarie enjoyed traveling, going to the opera in San Francisco, reading the daily newspapers, and crossword puzzles. She was predeceased by her parents and several aunts, uncles and cousins. She leaves her first cousins Donald Stoffey (Dottie) of Salinas, Bill Smith of Eden, WI and her "sister-cousin" Mary Ellen Ash (Robert) of Aptos. A Rosary Service will be held for Rosemarie on Thursday, May 24th beginning at 6 pm at Benito & Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel in Santa Cruz. A Funeral Mass will be on Friday, May 25th at 11 am at Resurrection Church in Aptos. Her Burial will take place at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Salinas on Friday at 2:30 pm.
