Martin Pine died on June 18, 2013, surrounded by family members at Dominican Hospital. He will be deeply missed by many. Martin was born in the Bronx, NY, in 1920 and served in World War II with the Army Air Corps in the Burma India Theater. He had a BS degree from City College and attended Brooklyn Polytech at the Graduate level. For 42 years he worked as a research and industrial chemist in N.J. For many years he was a volunteer driver for Jewish Family Service in N.J. and was chosen to be man of the year. He had a loving marriage with his wife, Lucille, for 70 plus years. Martin was a man full of compassion, love and loyalty. He was the proud father of Amy and Pamela Pine and father in law to Robert Campbell and Jeff Summers. He was a devoted grandfather to Lena, Risa and Max. His brother Herbert preceded him in death and he is survived by his sister in law Janet, niece Laurie and nephew David, and his sister, Carolyn and nieces Patty and Hope and nephew Eddie. Martin was also blessed by the support of his nephew Stanley, his wife Char, and his niece Ina. Anyone who had the good fortune to know Martin Pine will miss him dearly and remember him most for his sweetness, his generosity, his intelligence and his sweet smile. Also for his sense of humor and the way he so often would break into a bawdy song or three. There will be a memorial to honor the life of Martin Pine on Sunday, June 23 at 12:30 PM at Temple Beth El followed by a light repast.
