Don Moore

Obituary of Don H Moore

Don H. "Donny" Moore A memorial service is planned in Santa Cruz for Donny Moore who passed away at Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz on September 25, 2012 following a brave battle he fought with Muscular Dystrophy. He was 49 years old. Donny was born in Birmingham, Alabama, and was a resident of Santa Cruz County for more than 35 years. For a few years, Donny lived and worked in Queen Creek, Arizona, but returned to Santa Cruz in 2010. Employed as a health care worker at Dominican Hospital for more than 18 years, Donny leaves many dear friends and colleagues behind, many who will remember him for his personality and his love and knowledge of music. He was a familiar figure at the Dominican Hospital Picnics, where he was the D.J. for ten years. Donny's knowledge of music was vast. He was able to identify artist, song title, and the year it was recorded flawlessly. Donny did not have an easy road in this life with physical challenges, but he shone through with his sense of humor and ability to draw people to him, make them laugh, and feel good about life. He showed a great deal of compassion towards the homeless. He loved animals, particularly dogs, and was a talented sketch artist. Donny is survived by his mother and dad, Priscilla McGuire and John King of Felton, his aunts, Dianne Hall, Dr. Amy Tyree and Ginger Hyatt all of Birmingham, Alabama, along with numerous loving nieces, nephews and extended family in Alabama. Donny also leaves his beloved friend and companion, Tina Villalpando of Santa Cruz. The memorial service will be held at Pacific Gardens Chapel on Oct 13, at 11am.
