Richard Beardsley

Obituary of Richard Barry Beardsley

Services will be held on May 27, 2012 in Ben Lomond for long time resident Dick Beardsley who passed away peacefully at his home on April 29, after battling both diabetes and leukemia for over 10 years. He was born and raised in Oakland, California and moved to the San Lorenzo Valley more than 60 years ago. Mr. Beardsley was a talented cabinetmaker and his career in millwork spanned over 40 years. He took great pride in his work and his beautifully crafted wooden cabinetry is appreciated throughout Santa Cruz County. He loved working at Beautiful Wood and later Davenport Mill, leaving many friends and fellow artisans in the woodworking community who will miss him very much. Although debilitated from his illnesses, he was very happy to have visited his co-workers with his friend Eric at the mill this past month. When not at work, his family will forever cherish the memories of his love for watching sports and having his family and friends around him, appreciating his good nature and social personality. Everyone who knew him will always remember his quick wit and love of an old joke. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Diane Beardsley of Ben Lomond, his sons, Donald Beardsley of Ben Lomond, and John Beardsley of San Francisco; his brothers Robert Beardsley of Ben Lomond, and Bill Beardsley of Felton. Mr. Beardsley also leaves his beloved grandchildren, Nicholas and Lindsey Beardsley. To light a candle and share your thoughts with the family, please visit www.pacificgardenschapel.com.
