Obituary of Stephanie Moung-Falkard

Stephanie Moung-Falkard passed away suddenly on Sunday, January 27. She made a daily effort to have a positive impact in the world. Stephanie was born in Santa Cruz and attended Branciforte Elementary and Junior High. She graduated from Harbor High School in 1988. She received her Associates degree from Cabrillo College and trained as a nurse. She was a veterinary technician at All Pets Veterinary Clinic in Santa Cruz, and later worked with Brubeck-Wong Realtors, Santa Cruz Co. Housing Authority, Horizon Property Management, and Expressworks International. She and her husband Tom established Screwball Industries, a surfboard manufacturing business. After 11 years of a special loving relationship she married Tom Falkard in the summer of 2012. It was the wedding of her dreams at Shadowbrook. Stephanie embraced life and lived it fully. She was fearless. With Tom, she rode her dirt bike in the Mojave, dune buggyed on the Oregon Coast, and off-road camped in the Sierras at Gold Lake and the black Rock Desert of Nevada photographing wild mustangs. She loved being outdoors. She was a compassionate care-giver in difficult times to her family and friends. She was every animal's best friend, including her 4 cats, Chloe, Miranda, Hope, Monkey and dog Mike. Respect for all animals that share this planet was a passion in her life. She tended her raised bed gardens and indulged her love of cooking and sharing her bounty. She was a chef in the kitchen, preparing many a holiday dinner. She also turned her creativity to painting and drawing. As a nature lover she enjoyed visiting the beaches and forests of California and Oregon with her camera. She had many friends who shared her passion for local art and artists, and bond for animals of all sizes. Throughout her career she also provided a pet sitting service for many of her special clients. Stephanie and Tom traveled to England and Germany to attend Tom's mother's wedding, visiting castles and museums and historical sites. She was about to embark on a Safari to the Serengeti in East Africa with a longtime friend. She will be missed by her family and many friends. She is survived by her husband Tom, parents Dick and Vicky Moung, sister Christine, stepson Kurtis, stepdaughter Acacia and 2 step-grandchildren, Alayla and Davin, brother- in- law Victor, nephew Timothy. She is also survived by her aunts, uncles, cousins, and so many dear friends. A memorial service will be celebrated under the direction of Benito & Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel in Santa Cruz (1050 Cayuga St.)On Saturday, February 9, beginning at 3:00 p.m. A kind remembrance may be made to any animal or wildlife organization.
