Obituary of Wayne David Emerson

Wayne David Emerson passed away in Santa Cruz on March 20, 2011 at the age of 86. Wayne was born in Washington to Robert David Emerson and Myrtle Emerson. Wayne had a career in the Army. He retired from Fort Ord after 34 years as a Lieutenant Colonel. Later, he worked at the California State Auto Association as a Roadside Supervisor in the Santa Cruz and Oakland offices. During Wayne's early years of retirement he volunteered at a number of organizations. He volunteered at Dominican Hospital for many years, as a tram driver and in the medical library. He was on the board of the Trade Winds Residences Association. Wayne was also a member of the Capitola Planning Commission and the Senior Council of Santa Cruz and San Benito County. In his free time, he enjoyed reading. And he also enjoyed his retirement. Wayne is survived by his wife of 25 and a half years, Marjorie E. P. Emerson of Capitola, daughters, Debra Rainer of PA, Robyn Ramsdell of Stockton and Sally Emerson of San Jose, grandchildren, DesMarae Bookout, Robert, Dawni and David Rainer and Colin, Elyse and Daniel Lambing, and great-grandchildren Rayanne and Jerek Bookout. He was preceded in death by one brother and his parents. No services are scheduled for Wayne. Arrangements are under the direction of Benito & Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel in Santa Cruz.
