Obituary of Arthur LaGrone Brown

Arthur LaGrone Brown passed away on October 25, 2013 in Santa Cruz, California at the age of 84. Arthur was born September 15, 1929 to Arthur Peter and Louise Adelaide Brown in St. Paul Minnesota. He moved to Marin City, California in 1943, when his father came to California to work in the shipyards during World War II. He attended Tamalpais Union High School and Marin JC. After which he joined the United States Army. While stationed at Fort Ord, where he served as a Korean War Veteran Military Police, he met and married his first wife Beatrice McKinney AKA Helena Walsh in 1953. From this union three children were born. Jimmie Glen, Terrie Louise and Kelly Anderson (Proceeded his father in death in 1995). In 1971 he met and married his second wife Teya Scott. From this union a son Kipchogi Khareem was born and a step daughter Lynn was added to his family. After he left the Army he brought his young family back to Marin City to live, where he worked at Tamalpais Union high school. In the late sixties he went to work for the San Francisco Housing Authority as a housing project manager until he retired. He was an active member of the free Masons and the Eagles' social clubs in Brisbane CA. until his later years, when he moved to Santa Cruz to live with his son Jimmie. He was a proud grandfather to Erica and Kelsey McLain, Kiran Brown, and step-granddaughter Junnifer Chisholm. He is survived by his former wives, sister Arty Lou Ida Brown Richardson, his children, his grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Benito & Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel, 1050 Cayuga St., Santa Cruz, CA. on Thursday October 31, 2013 at 2:00 pm. A private inurnment will follow at Mt.
