Zenaida Corum

Obituary of Zenaida Corum

A visitation will be held today and a Family Farewell Tribute will be on Monday in Santa Cruz for Sandy Corum who passed away peacefully at her Watsonville home on March 18th with her beloved family at her bedside. Born in Presidio, Texas, she was 73 years old. Sandy moved to Santa Cruz County over 45 years ago, and for the past 29 years, she owned and operated Casa Rosita's Mexican Restaurant on Portola Drive. She was a loving mother and hardworking lady who leaves many dear friends, customers, and colleagues from her years in business. Many fond family memories will always be cherished of the trips to Reno and her fondness for lottery "scratchers". She was very accomplished in arts and crafts, particularly in the creation of decorative jewelry. Sandy also was talented at crocheting and made many wonderful gifts for her family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Larry Corum of Watsonville, and her loving children: her oldest daughter Cilvia Perales, her son Asencion Perales, her daugher Zenaida Perales; her son David Perales and her stepsons Larry Hugh Corum and Bruce H. Corum. Sandy also leaves many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as her great great granddaughter, Jael; and also a host of extended family and friends residing in California and the Southwest. Friends may pay their respects at a viewing today (Friday March 21,) at Benito and Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel in Santa Cruz form 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. A farewell tribute with shared family reflections and wonderful music will begin on Monday, March 24, 2014 at 6 p.m. at the chapel. A private committal will take place later in the week. Any kind acts of charity can be made in Sandy's memory to the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.
