Obituary of Doris Bowden-Carter

Doris (Dominiconi) Bowden Carter passed away on February 7, 2013, at the age of 86. She was the eldest of two daughters born to Paul Dominiconi and Rachel Bigotta. She was born on September 2, 1926. She grew up in San Francisco and Greenfield, graduating from King City High School, where she played the lead in her high school play. She married David Bowden at 17; they were married 41 years before his death in 1985. After some time in Seattle they raised 3 children in Santa Cruz, where she worked at Flowerland Florist and was a member of Eastern Star. Doris was then married to Walter Carter for 20 years, until his death 2 years ago. She lived for 62 years in the home in which she died. Her home was known for it's harmony, beauty, culture and warmth. She also loved to travel, visiting Ireland, Hawaii, Mexico, and China and other places. She is survived by her children Jeanette Coe, Joyce Yarr and William Bowden, by her son-in-law Dan Yarr and daughter-in-law Shawnee Bowden, and by grandchildren Sandy and Tim Coe, Sarah Schmitt, Adrian and Faye Yarr, and Melissa Lanctot, her sister Bernice Silvera, and 5 great grandchildren. Doris was preceded in death by husbands David Bowden and Walt Carter, and granddaughter Marcella Siefert. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday February 13, 2013 at 3:00 pm at Benito & Azzaro Pacific Garden Chapel, 1050 Cayuga St, Santa Cruz.
