Obituary of Charlotte Francine Mott

Charlotte (Sally) F. Mott passed away on February 7, 2012. She was 101 years old. Charlotte was born on August 12, 1910 in Lima, Ohio to Dr. Charles Walter and Roxanna Hartzog. She later moved to California and lived in Oakland, then Boulder Creek, and most recently she resided in Aptos. When she was younger she attended Pacific Radio School in San Francisco, and was the first woman graduate to receive a Commercial Ham Radio Operators License. Because of her radio experience she communicated with Admiral Byrd during two of his expeditions to the South Pole. She also participated in the search for Amelia Earhart in 1937. In later years she obtained a Real Estate License and worked as an agent for 15 years. Her great passion was becoming one of Jehovah's Witnesses and she was a zealous member for over 50 years, and in that time she acquainted many individuals with what the Bible really teaches. Charlotte is survived by her daughter, Diana G. Meek, and her son, Gary Mott, as well as 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Mott; her mother, Roxanna Walter in 1964; her father, Dr. Charles Walter in 1934; an older sister, Edna (Walter) Stevenson and twin brothers, Harold and Harry Walter. A Memorial Service is planned for Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 3125 Park Ave., Soquel, Ca. A local elder, Dan Johnson, will be officiating.
