Obituary of Janice Faye Herum

Janice Faye Herum passed away on January 30, 2012 in Santa Cruz. She was 82 years old. Janice was born February 18, 1929 to Hugh and Naomi Youngman. She was born and raised in Santa Cruz, where she continued to live for her whole life. Janice graduated from Santa Cruz High School and then attended Business School. Janice was a Parish worker at Messiah Lutheran Church for about 30 years. She was very active in various activities for the church. Janice also worked as the Campus Ministry Secretary at UCSC. Janice and her husband, Severin liked to travel, they made many trips abroad together. She loved to crochet and made blankets that she gave away to others. Janice also enjoyed reading and she always had a great love for her family. Janice is survived by her husband of 61 ½ years, Severin Herum, her sons and daughter-in-laws, Stanley and Jane Herum, and Andrew "Butch" and Leslie Herum, her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Joe Vitales, her grandson and his fiancé, Andrew Herum and Ashley Summers, her grandson and his wife, Jason and Kristin Herum, and grandchildren, Jeanette Herum, Severin Herum, Steven Vitales and Stephanie Vitales. Graveside Services for Janice will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Santa Cruz Memorial Park, 1927 Ocean St. Ext. in Santa Cruz at 10:00 AM. A Memorial Service will be held, also on Saturday at Messiah Lutheran Church, 801 High St. in Santa Cruz beginning at 11:30 AM.
