Obituary of Esther Alice McCrary Greenwood

Esther Greenwood passed away at her home on Sunday November 25, 2012. With her was her son Gary. She was 89 years of age. Born Esther Alice McCrary on July 27, 1923 in Stockton, California. She grew up in the Swanton area on a farm with her mother, father , three sisters and two brothers. She worked hard cleaning houses to put herself through college at San Francisco State. She went on to teach school in Sebastopol for several years before marrying her husband Ernest Greenwood. They lived in Mountain View until settling on their property in Soquel in 1956. She was a talented artist, sometimes painting pictures for friends. Loving, kind and generous, she always thought of others before herself. She is survived by two sons, Fred and Gary Greenwood, her twin sister, Edythe Harbert and her sister, Iris Crabb. A memorial Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St Joseph's Catholic Church, 435 Monterey Ave., Capitola, CA on Monday December 3, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Benito & Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel.
