Obituary of Bruce Locke

Services will be held on Sunday in Santa Cruz for Bruce Locke who passed away on June 12, 2013, following a lengthy battle against Alzheimer's disease. He was 80 years old. Glen Bruce Locke Sr. was born in Trinidad, Colorado. He was a Naval Aviator, flying fighter jets in the US Marine Corp. In 1960 Mr. Locke earned his aeronautical engineering degree from California Polytechnic University in San Luis Obispo. Mr. Locke worked for Boeing and finished his career as a commercial airline pilot for TWA. His career as a pilot spanned over 40 years and his stories and accomplishments will forever be cherished by his family. Bruce and his bride, Claire, were married 60 years this year. They retired in Santa Cruz and enjoyed sailing, touring in their RV and spending time with friends and family. Mr. Locke is survived by his wife, Claire Locke of Santa Cruz, his sons and daughters in law; Glen and Judy Locke of Santa Cruz, John and Lori Locke of Missouri, Jeff and Lisa Locke of Fremont, CA; his son Alex Locke of Santa Cruz and his daughter and son in-law Julie and Mario Gullo of Ben Lomond, CA. He also leaves two sisters, Susan Tenney of San Mateo, Valerie Locke of Bend, Oregon; eleven grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Friends and family will gather on Sunday June 23, 2013 at Benito and Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel beginning at 3 p.m. for a memorial service followed by military honors. Burial will be private.
