Obituary of Georges Ferron McCormick

Georges Ferron McCormick, MD Dr. Georges F. McCormick passed away July 4, 2011 at Dominican Hospital after suffering a heart attack. He was 91. He was born April 11, 1920 in Providence, Rhode Island where he was raised. He was the son of Joseph McCormick and Marie Ferron McCormick. He attended Georgetown University where he graduated from the School of Medicine and where he also was an assistant professor of pulmonary medicine. Georges served in the U.S. Army and retired after 22 years as a Lt. Colonel. Following 11 years of active duty he served his last 11 years as a C.E.O of a military hospital in Mountain View. A resident of Santa Cruz since 1958 he has been a practicing pulmonologist and has served as medical director at Dominican Santa Cruz Hospital for 23 years. Georges was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church and the Santa Cruz Yacht Club where he formerly club commodore. In his spare time he enjoyed sailing, family vacations and photography. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dawn McCormick; four sons, Georges McCormick and his wife, Patricia, John McCormick and his wife, Wanda, Michael McCormick and his wife, Julie and Peter McCormick. He is also survived by six grandchildren. Services will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Benito & Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel.
