Obituary of Mamie Mary Teixeira

A memorial mass will be celebrated on June 4th in Capitola for Mamie Teixeira who passed away peacefully at her Capitola home on May 23rd, 2014 at the age of 93. Born in Fowler, California, Mamie moved to the Santa Cruz area 36 years ago. She loved Capitola, and cherished the many friendships made throughout the years. Mamie enjoyed walking to the beach, and meeting her friends at the park to discuss just about every current topic or happening. She was a long time parishioner of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. A very talented homemaker, her cooking was exceptional, and she was famous for her apple pies. Many fond memories will be cherished by her family of the beautiful meals she prepared when entertaining her family and friends. Her home was immaculate, and Mamie took great pride in the things she did, and lovingly taught her children in the same fashion. She is survived by her daughter, Jane Warner of Capitola, her son, Fred G. Teixeira of Fresno, three beloved grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Mamie was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, George Teixeira in 1994. She was also preceded in death by her two sisters, Elsie Herman and Violet Davis. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday June 4, 2014 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church (435 Monterey Ave,) in Capitola beginning at 11 O'clock a.m. She will be laid to rest in a private ceremony beside her late husband George, at Holy Cross Cemetery in Fresno, California. Any kind acts of charity can be made to JDRF to help improve the lives of those living with Type 1 diabetes.
