Obituary of Jane Madden

Jane resided in the towns of Los Gatos and Saratoga, CA for many years while raising her children. She loved the arts and was very involved with the Montalvo Arts Center there. Later she moved to Port Ludlow, WA. In her later years she spent time with each of her children in Wilmington, NC, Richmond, RI and Boulder Creek CA, where she has lived for the past two years. In her early years she was a lifeguard and then became a high school English teacher which she found immensely rewarding. She married Walter J. Madden Jr., Naval Officer and Patent Attorney for IBM and shared 58 years together. Jane and Walter had three children; Mary O'Leary, Carol Madden, and Anthony Madden. Jane was a talented gardener and won many ribbons at the county fairs. She enjoyed gourmet cooking and entertaining for her family and friends. She was a member of the Altar Guild at St. Andrews Church in Saratoga, CA and a long-time member of the Great Books Club. Jane is survived by her children Mary O'Leary, Carol Madden and Anthony Madden, five grandchildren, two great grandchildren, eight nieces and four nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter J. Madden Jr., her sister Eileen Bonacina from AZ and her brothers Russell and Clinton Griswold from NC. Services will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at St. Andrew's Church at 101 Riverside Ave in Ben Lomond, CA 95005; beginning at 1 pm. A celebration of life to follow after the service at the family's home.
