Obituary of Priscilla Joan Tyra

Priscilla Joan Tyra passed away on May 20, 2013. She was 81 years old. Priscilla was born in Turlock, Ca on April 8, 1932 to Andrew and Ollie Tyra Sr. She was raised in both Crowslanding, Ca and Santa Cruz, Ca, although she lived most of her adult life in Santa Cruz and the Hawaiian Islands. Priscilla worked many years at the Casa Del Rey Hotel prior to moving to Hawaii, where she worked for the Black Pearl Ltd. and the Sultan Co. Priscilla enjoyed listening to and attending Hawaiian musical events including the Santa Cruz Aloha Festival. She also loved attending races and was very active in supporting the WAMM program where she made lifelong friends. She was also a supporter of gay rights and participated in the Annual Gay Rights Parade. They will be dedicating a float this year to her memory. Priscilla is survived by her children, Charlene Allen-Dowdy, Linda Allen, Connie Gremich-Lauro, Michael Barry, Debra Barry, and Jackie Russell. She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren, 2 nieces, 2 nephews, her sister-in-law, Mary Tyra, and she was an Auntie to many. At Priscilla's request there will be no services held for her. Her family will be taking her remains to Hawaii. Aloha.
