Obituary of Gino L Rossi

Gino L. Rossi Services are Friday evening for Gino L. Rossi who passed away suddenly March 20, 2011 at Dominican Hospital. He was 79. Gino was born in San Francisco on April 7, 1931. He was one of three sons born to Casamiro and Alaide Rossi. He was raised in Pescadero where he attended Country School. In his early teens he moved with his family to Santa Cruz and attended Mission Hill and Santa Cruz High School. Gino farmed with his brother on the north coast at Cascade Ranch until 1966 when he went to work for Granite Construction, retiring in 1991. He was a member of the Marconi Club, Italian Catholic Federation and the Santa Cruz Elks Lodge. He was known as the "Salad Man" for all of the organization's occasions and picnics. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved fishing and camping with his family. He enjoyed working in the yard and his garden. He was a jack of all trades. He was able to make or fix almost anything and was always willing to help his friends with their projects. Gino was well liked by all who knew him. He leaves his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 60 years, Angie Rossi; his son, Louie Rossi and his wife Barbara; daughter, Gina Navaroli all of Santa Cruz and his brother, Marino Rossi of Paradise. He is also survived by his four grandchildren, Eric and Ryan Navaroli and Nick and Chris Rossi and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Rudy Rossi. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 126 High St, Santa Cruz, CA on Friday March 25, 2011 at 7:00 pm. The visitation will be at the church from 6 pm until the Mass begins at 7 pm. A private entombment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery.
