Obituary of Nicholas Jmaes Gallagher

Nicholas James Gallagher passed away on June 28th, 2013, at the age of 28, after a very heroic battle with brain cancer. Born in San Jose, California, he moved to Santa Cruz County at the age of five. He was a graduate of Aptos High School and became very skilled at working with computers. Nick could tackle any task on the computer with the greatest of ease and was a master at online games. He was an avid San Jose Sharks and San Francisco Giants fan, collecting just about any souvenir or jersey available. Nick prayed that he could become well enough to attend the games in San Jose and San Francisco. The Dream Foundation made it possible for his dream to come true. He not only got to attend the Sharks games, but got to meet all the players in their locker room and was able to ride the Zamboni at one of their playoff games. Nick is survived by his father, Matthew Gallagher and mother, Kathy K. Costello, and loving grandmother, Janet Marie Gallagher, all of Aptos. Nick also leaves behind a sister, Kathleen Nuttall, of Las Vegas, and a brother, Dane Smestad, of San Jose. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins, and a host of friends and extended family of the Resurrection Catholic Church, who have been praying for him. The Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Resurrection Church at 7600 Soquel Drive in Aptos, on July 27th at 10:00 a.m. He will be laid to rest in Los Gatos Memorial Park.
