Obituary of Edwin Lista

Edwin Lista, born 03/30/1931, passed away at Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz on June 9, 2011. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he was 80 years old. "Pops" as he was affectionately known by all his family was a resident of Santa Cruz for the past 17 years. Ed proudly served his country in the US Air Force. He was employed by GenCorp Aerojet in the Propulsion Division. His career at Aerojet spanned over 20 years and included several patents credited to his name. He was a mentor to many young people and was a talented baseball and softball coach; dedicating himself to both Little League Baseball and Bobby Sox Softball programs in the Roseville area for many years. Ed also taught Bible School at First Presbyterian Church in Roseville and upon moving to the Santa Cruz area, attended St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Capitola. His family will forever remember his love and the countless hours spent on West Cliff watching the ocean with his beloved wife, Linda. He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Linda Lista of Santa Cruz, three daughters; Bonnie Mann (Mickey) of Roseville, Bobbie Burandt (Don) of Volcano, HI, Laurie Thomas of Olivehurst, CA.; his son, Edwin Lista Jr. of Hilo, HI, and his step children, Eileen Sheehan (Bob) and Ralph Pato both of Santa Cruz. Ed also leaves 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Services will be held in Santa Cruz. Friends and family may pay their respects at a viewing to be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at Benito and Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel in Santa Cruz from 12 noon until 6 p.m. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at the chapel at 6 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 16th at St. Joseph's Catholic Church (435 Monterey Ave. Capitola, CA.) beginning at 9:30 a.m. Graveside services will be held at Roseville Public Cemetery on Friday June 17th, starting at 1:00 p.m., where he will be laid to rest beside his late wife, Beverly Lista, who preceded him in death in 1977.
