Obituary of Dale Telles

Dale Telles passed away on June 1, 2013 from complications of pneumonia. He passed away in Santa Cruz at the age of 83. Dale was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on August 12, 1929 to Abran and Lupe Telles. He lived there until he was 16, when he came to live with his father in Santa Cruz in 1946. He attended and graduated from Santa Cruz High School. After high school, Dale was in the U.S. Navy Reserves for 5 years, then he served in the U.S. Army for 2 years, 1956-57. In the Army, Dale learned the welding trade, which would become his career. He worked for Lockheed Martin, at the Santa Cruz facility for 27 years as a Senior Precision Welder, retiring in 1993. Dale was an avid hunter and fisherman. He lived in Santa Cruz for 67 years; he loved Santa Cruz and its history. Dale is survived by his brother, Joe Telles of Santa Cruz, 4 nieces and 5 nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Marcella Thiel on 6/18/91 and Rosie Arana on 1/09/10. A Celebration of Life will be held for Dale at the Rodeo Gulch Mobile Home Club House, at 100 N. Rodeo Gulch in Soquel on Friday, June 7, 2013 from 10 am to 12 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Santa Cruz County, 940 Disc Dr. Scotts Valley, CA 95066.
