Obituary of Robert Harvey Mullis

Robert H. Mullis, was born on December 5, 1923 in San Francisco. He was raised in Death Valley and Covina until serving in the Navy, in the South Pacific, during WWII. Upon his discharge, he entered Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo where he met and married his wife, Mary Hernan. As his family grew, they moved north to San Jose. He worked as an engineer at Westinghouse's Marine Division until his retirement 23 years ago. He then moved to Santa Cruz, where he continued his lifelong passion for photography, art and gardening. He also enjoyed travel, golf, bocce ball, and his daily walk along the ocean on Westcliff Drive with Mary. After a short illness, he passed away peacefully at home on Saturday January 14th, 2012, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary, his children, Robert Jr., John, Mike, Dorothy and Daniel along with their spouses, 14 grandchildren and 3 great grand children. His family and friends will miss his kind and generous heart. Bob's interment will be announced at a later date.
