Obituary of Jean Lillis Stevenson

Jean L. Stevenson, passed away on January 21, 2012 at her home in Santa Cruz. She was 81. Jean was born on October 8, 1930 in Visalia, California. She was the daughter of Donald M. Wells and Lucille (Willett) Wells. She grew up in Visalia and was a graduate of Visalia Union High School, class of 1948. In 1949 she married, James Stevenson and in 1950 moved to Santa Cruz. During the years that her children were growing up, Jean was a devoted, wife, mother and homemaker. When her children were grown she worked at the County Bank of Santa Cruz. Jean was a member of Eastern Star, the Rainbow Girls and was a member of a bowling league with her numerous friends. She was also active doing volunteer work as a member of the Dominican Hospital Auxiliary and the Red Cross. Jean loved, spending time with her friends and road trips with her husband in their motorhome. One of her highlights was a family trip to Hawaii. She enjoyed leather crafts, making key chains and purses, doing crossword puzzles and watching Jeopardy. She is survived by her son, Mike Stevenson; four grandchildren, Don Stevenson, Scot Stevenson, Jeff Stevenson and Sarah Goodale and three great grandchildren, Aaron Stevenson, Ashlin Stevenson and Colton Stevenson; she also leaves her sister, Nancy Gill. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, James Stevenson, sons, James Stevenson, Jr. and David Stevenson, her daughter, Suzanne Stevenson and her sister, Betty Hoxie. A memorial service will be held at Gateway Bible Church, 5000 Granite Creek Rd, Scotts Valley, CA 95066 on Saturday January 28, 2012 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers contributions are preferred to Hospice of Santa Cruz, 940 Disc Dr., Scotts Valley, CA 95066.
