Obituary of Lucia Alvarez-Frausto

Services will be in Santa Cruz and Capitola on March 15 and 16th, for Lucia Alvarez-Frausto who passed away peacefully at her Santa Cruz home on March 4, 2012, with her loving family at her bedside. Born in Michoacan, Mexico, she moved from there to Santa Cruz 43 years ago. Raising her family here, she was a dedicated mother and parishioner of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Capitola. A talented dancer and lover of music, her family will cherish the many fond memories of Lucia dancing to Mariachi Music at family celebrations. Lucia was a devoted and hardworking woman, and the time she would spend helping her children and grandchildren, was paramount in her life. She is survived by her children, Elva Hernandez-Alvarez , John Alvarez, and Jerry Alvarez all of Santa Cruz. She also leaves her siblings Victor Alvarez of Long Beach, CA.; Jose Luis Alvarez of Mexico, Angela Alvarez of Santa Cruz, Consuelo Alvarez of Santa Cruz, Gloria Alvarez of Santa Cruz, Rosa Alvarez of Fresno, Robert Alvarez of Mexico, and Sylvia Kozlowski of Morgan Hill, California. She also leaves her beloved grandchildren Elizabeth, Cindy, Marcie, John, Lori, Windy, Arthur, Maria, Christopher,and Joseph; her great grandchildren: Sophia, Rocco, Gianna, and Enzo. Both her daughter, Irene, and her son Ramiro preceded her in death in 2004. Friends may pay their respects at Benito and Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel on Thursday from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be Thursday evening at 6 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 16, 2012, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church (435 Monterey Ave. Capitola CA.) beginning at 9;30 a.m. She will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery beside her daughter Irene, immediately following the mass.
