Marie San Antonio

Obituary of Marie Elizabeth San Antonio

Marie San Antonio, a resident of Santa Cruz County, died May 2, 2011, following a bravely fought battle with cancer. She was 69. Marie was with friends and family when she passed. Her life was a reflection of a strong faith in God and a generous spirit that always put others first. Marie was devoted to friends and family without judgment. She had a willingness to mentor others so they could succeed. She loved deeply and laughed easily. Marie spent almost 34 years as an Attendance Technician at Lynbrook High School in the Fremont Union High School District. A tireless advocate for students and school employees throughout her career, Marie was well known and respected for her work in the California School Employees Association at the state and local levels. Marie also loved music. Choir director at Sacred Heart in Saratoga for many years, she recently served as the choir director at Resurrection Church in Santa Cruz. With great pride, Marie sang at the Vatican in 2008 with the Diocesan Choir of Monterey. Later in life, Marie became part of a new family, the "Friends of Faire." For 2 years, Marie enjoyed working with a small group at the Renaissance Faire in Salinas, where she became known as "Cork." With her new life as Cork, Marie found renewed excitement about her life after the passing of her lifetime friend, Barbara Dodsworth. Thank you Christine, Diane and the Friends of Faire for being the support Marie needed until her passing. The funeral service will be Saturday, May 14, 2011 at Resurrection Church, 7600 Soquel Drive, in Aptos, CA at 1:00pm. A reception will follow in the Church hall where family and friends can share and celebrate Marie's life.
