Obituary of Cheryl Ann Deraiche

Cheryl Ann Deraiche, passed away, August 22, 2013 at home with her loving family at her side after a year long battle with cancer. She was 54. Cheryl was born in East Orange, New Jersey on January 30, 1959, the daughter of Bruce and June (Rahberg) Puffer. She grew up in New Jersey and moved to Santa Cruz to attend Cabrillo College, UCSC and later earned a Master's Degree at San Jose State University. She was a career counselor for the CalWorks Department of the County of Santa Cruz. She was a devout Catholic, worshiping at St. Joseph's Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. Cheryl loved animals and walks along the ocean. She was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling. Mostly she was a devoted and loving mother to her daughter, Natalie. She is survived by her daughter, Natalie Deraiche; brother, Donald Puffer; her friend and former husband, Rick Deraiche and her cousin, Jennifer Sylvester. She was preceded in death by her parents. A vigil prayer service and Rosary will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 435 Monterey Ave., Capitola, CA on Monday, August 26 at 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Church on Tuesday August 27 at 10:00 am. A private inurnment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery at a later date.
