Obituary of Charles Emmett Grever

Charles Emmett Grever Charles "Charlie" Grever passed away peacefully on July 3, 2011 in Santa Cruz surrounded by his loving family. He was 85 years old. Charles was born September 6, 1925 in Sugar City, Colorado; the son of Jesse and Margaret Grever. He was one of 14 children. He enlisted in the U.S. Army at age 17 and proudly served in World War II. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7263. Charlie married Dorothy Ann Cotter in 1947. They resided in Santa Cruz and he retired from Lonestar Cement Plant in 1988. His favorite hobbies included hunting, gardening, working on his inventive projects and spending time with his family. He was a devoted father and loving "Papa" who had a big smile, keen sense of humor and a kind presence that will be greatly missed. Charlie is survived with loving memories by his wife, Dorothy; his daughter Margaret Dalbesio and her husband Edward; his brothers, Zane, Douglas and Bruce Grever; his sister, Barbara Bale; his grandchildren, Sabrina and Jason Dalbesio and Sara Auble and her husband Joshua; he is also survived by two great grandchildren, Riley and Reese and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Art, Kenneth, Alfred, Joe, Bill and Johnny and his sisters, Alice, Luda and Peggy. Services will be held at Benito & Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel, 1050 Cayuga St., Santa Cruz, CA. on Monday July 11, 2011 at 10:00 am. Friends are invited to call at the chapel on Monday beginning at 8:30 am until service time. Interment will immediately follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
