Jeanne Goret

Obituary of Jeanne Seraphine Goret

Jeanette Goret, a longtime resident of Ben Lomond, died on February 12, 2013, she was 86. Jeanette was born on August 20, 1926 in Idaho, but her family returned to Gap in South-Eastern France when she was still a toddler. At age five she was orphaned by the sudden deaths of both of her parents. She lived with her aunts for a while and then she and her brothers were sent to separate boarding schools. Her boarding school was in a Convent and she stayed there until the Nazis took it over during the Occupation. She lived in France until several years after World War II when she came to California with her husband Andre. They moved to California because she had some relatives in the Sunol area. Jeanette met her husband, Andre Goret in France, after the war, while she was working in his father's restaurant. Their son Claude was born in California in 1953, and they moved permanently to Ben Lomond when Andre retired to care for Claude. Throughout her life, Jeanette was continuously engaged in helping her church, friends and family; always with a positive attitude. She was a second mother to many of her friends and offered unconditional acceptance and a generosity of spirit that always gave one hope. She will be deeply and profoundly missed. Jeanette is survived by her sister-in-laws , Carol Jean Chabre and Mireille Chabre, nieces, Suzanne Michele Chabre, Carole Louise Kroyer, and Christianne Reguero, great nieces, Ashley Elizabeth Kroyer and Darby Melissa Kroyer and many loving friends.
