I met Mary in the most serendipitous way. She showed up in my schedule and I was lucky to clean her teeth for quite a few years. Oh how we laughed. At some point we realized we were connected through Eric and Trish and we didn't even know it. We laughed some more and talked of the kids and dogs and travel and how great Santa Cruz is.These were fun times. Some days I could barely clean her teeth we talked and laughed so much. My boss would come in and say "what is going on in here?" and we would have him laughing too. I will miss her presence Jordan and Aiden's the Little League games.Peace to you all . There are no words I can share that will help you with the weight of grief and emptiness you may be experiencing. Rest assured I will never forget Mary. What a gem.

Dear Allan, Bengie, Trish, and Christine,
In every exchange I ever had with her, Mary always led me to laughter with her one-liners and anecdotes and jokes. When our around-town chance meetings wrapped up, she left me seeing a lighter, sunnier side of one matter or another. I have been enriched by my association with her and with all of you. Please accept my condolences.

Dear Benji,
I was saddened to hear of your Mom's passing. While I never met your Mom, the story in the obit and the postings by friends on this website lead me to believe that she was a real firecracker - just as you are. I lost my Mom this year as well. We are never prepared for this kind of loss, but we have been well prepared by our Moms to be alive, vibrant, modern women. I think of you often and wish you well.

Mary was our neighbor a few doors down and she held a very special place in our hearts. We got to know her during the daily walks she would take with her friends, and adored her bright smile and amazing warm heart. When our first son Alex was born in 2007, Mary was so excited to meet him. Whenever we walk past their house Alex calls it "Nana Mary's house". That smile will light up the sky above our home as we always remember such a wonderful lady.

Mary will be missed by so many of us in Santa Cruz. As a new teacher at Brook Knoll eons ago, her advise and humor helped me grow into my job. We had great fun working together in Girl Scouts, and she gave me wonderful and witty advise on raising my own children. I know how much she loved her own family. She set an example of a life well lived. My thoughts and wishes are will all of you.
