Obituary of Jesus Maria Peña

A Mass of the Resurrection will be held in Santa Cruz on Wednesday, for Jesus Peña who passed away at his Santa Cruz home on November 3, 2013. Born in Los Angeles, California, he was 76 years old. Mr. Peña moved to the Santa Cruz area 45 years ago and worked as a lumberyard foreman with Big Creek Lumber. First starting out at the Davenport location, he retired from the Pleasure Point lumberyard, and his career spanned a total of 35 years in the industry. Mr. Peña served his country in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Turkey. He will forever be cherished as a loving husband, father and grandfather, who made his family the pinnacle of importance in his life. He was preceded in death by his wife Chong In Kim Peña in 1998, and is survived by his daughter Jennifer Harris, former resident of Santa Cruz and now raising her children, Tyler and Zachary in Santa Rosa, CA. Mr. Peña also leaves his two sons, James Kim Peña of Santa Cruz, and Ho Nam Kim of Arizona; his two sisters, Nellie Romero of San Jose, and Ramona Gilpin of Los Angeles. Friends and family will gather at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church (515 Frederick Street) in Santa Cruz on Wednesday November 20th where the mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. A private committal will take place at a later date.
