Salvador Aguilar

Obituary of Salvador Matthew Aguilar

Sal Matthew Aguilar also known as vicious midget, little man Sal and the boy with the infectious laugh, born on October 5, 1986 lost his battle with Diabetes & addiction on August 30, 2011. Sal was a native of Santa Cruz, and was one of six children. He was the eldest of three boys, and always referred to them as his big baby brothers because they towered a foot over him. Sal was also loved by three older sisters who always tried to protect him. He loved his big sisters and never wanted to see them hurting. Sal loved cooking and coming up with his own concoctions that always turned into the most delicious thing you had ever tasted. You would often find him in the kitchen with his brothers late a night cooking up some elaborate snack. He not only loved cooking, but enjoyed good meals. Sal's favorite holiday was Thanksgiving. You'd always find him in the kitchen wanting to help and, of course, eating. His favorite job was working at Camarlinghi Tile, he was so proud of his work. He loved working with his hands and took pride in his craft. He often commented that was the best job he's had. Sal had just recently planted a garden and was so excited when it sprouted. He wanted to share his joy that his lettuce was multiplying by the day with everyone. It was one of the greatest gifts he has left for his family. He never realized how loved he was and how many lives he touched. He was such an exceptional young man it's sad that in life he never knew how special he was. Like many have said, he was a sweet soul that has sadly left this world way before his time. Sal will always be remembered for his laugh. You could never hear his laugh and not start laughing, because it was so contagious. He is survived by his mother and father, Becky & Paul Soderstrom; his sister Tiffany Trenowski and her significant other Jonah Sapino; his sister Kimberly and her husband Michael Spano; his sister, whom he always thought of as his twin, Samantha Aguilar; his brothers, Douglas & Zachary Soderstrom; his nephew, Max, and nieces, Marley & Giose; his Grandparents, Ron & Willow Trenowski, and his Grandpa Bruce Soderstrom. He is also survived by his Aunt & Uncle, Diana & David Lopez and cousins, Richard, Vinny, Reuben, & Veronica; his Aunt & Uncle, Anita & Joe Dal Porto; his Uncle Richard Trenowski & cousin Amanda; his Aunt Nicole Grova and cousins Zachary & Kiara; and his Uncle Michael Grova. He is preceded in death by his beloved Grandma Nancy Soderstrom, and his very special and deeply missed Oma, Rosmarie Mayer. He is often spoken of sitting by the ocean talking with his Oma. He said it was the one place he found peace. Sal's ashes will be scattered at sea where his Oma went after her passing on August 26, 1996. His Oma will then help him with his journey home to find the peace and serenity he so wanted. We would like to invite you to a celebration of Sal's life on September 24th @ 2pm at 5060 Winkle Ave. in Santa Cruz.
