Obituary of Reynaldo Sanchez Ramirez

Reynaldo Sanchez, Ramirez, Jr. passed suddenly on May 21, 2011 at the age of 61. Ray was born on January 9, 1950 in Fabens, Texas, one of seven children of Reynaldo and Elisa (Sanchez) Ramirez. He grew up in Fabens, Texas and following high school served in the U.S. Marine Corp as a weapons instructor. Following his military service Ray came to California and settled in Santa Cruz. He worked for Salz Tannery for many years and later for U.C.S.C. as an electrician. Ray was described as outgoing and friendly. He loved people and had many friends. He loved gardening, fishing, and barbequing and coached girl's softball for many years. He is survived by his loving wife, Marta Ramirez of Santa Cruz; four daughters, Cristina Fusari of Santa Cruz, Linda Dossett of Buda, TX, Elisa Alameda of Santa Cruz and Helena Ramirez of Santa Cruz; two sisters, Sara Sierra of Clint, TX and Susan Sierra of Fabens, TX; two brothers, Arthur Sierra of Fabens, TX and Kenneth Sierra of Texas. He was also survived by five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Donna Ramirez, his two brothers, and his parents. A memorial service and celebration of Ray's life will be held at Benito & Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel, 1050 Cayuga St., Santa Cruz, CA on Friday May 27, 2011 at 2:00 pm.
